Where do I start….medals were very much on the mind but following my processes was the goal we were going to follow!
The wonderful Duchess was utterly incredible as ever and I couldn’t be luckier to ride this amazing mare.
To compete at our second championship together and to have so much success was like a dream come true. Thank you Athene for being my dancing partner and rising to the occasion and most importantly I know you enjoyed every minute .
The weather was less than ideal on the team competition day; and it made it a very long day for everybody. But the sun came out for Freestyle day .
Now for the thank you’s and there’s quite a few; we are so incredibly lucky to have the home team we do and the awesome support from the World Class team.
Thank you to Di for allowing us to take Athene; we know you were cheering for us us loudly from home. Romilly it was fantastic to have you with us all week. Mum and dad thank you isn’t enough and Rob more medals to add to the tally. Thanks for your endless support and always believing I could do it. My home team and all my incredible supporters and sponsors a big thank you.
The team behind the team don’t always get enough thank you’s they were utterly fabulous and allowed us all to peak at the right time. I can’t list everyone but a huge thank you to you all the support team at the championships with us and those left at home . There’s something very special about being on the British team; thanks to UK sport and the National Lottery for their continued support.
Huge well done to my team mates Gabby, Jemima and Nicola and all their home teams.
Winning two medals was incredible and coming so very close to a team medal was gutting but we will come back stronger . The prize givings were very special and driving around the arena in a car and having a proper lap of honour was fantastic.
It was an honour to represent and seeing the flag on the podium was a very proud moment (may have brought tears to my eyes). Athene is going the best she’s ever gone and we were able to produce that work in the tests, my accuracy was better than ever (that cone practice has really paid off)!! Couldn’t be prouder that all our hard work and my teams came off in the arena!
But what’s really exciting is there is more to come . Pulling out three scores of 75%+ in the individual and team competition and then 77+ in the freestyle was amazing .
Finally thank you to everybody that supported us from home all the messages, cards etc.
Now some needed rest and recovery for everyone!! Athene’s going to have a lovely holiday; she certainly deserves it. She has now won 12 medals…… spectacular!!
