Wow after the excitement of last month August has been a much quieter month and so this will probably be my shortest blog post ever!
After my successes to date, it was time for me and the horses to have a well- deserved holiday. So Sky and Bear had a 2 week holiday and spent the time stuffing their faces. I on the other hand went to America to visit my sister, her husband and my niece for two weeks. It was wonderful to be able to rest and know that the boys were being looked after and the occasional what’s app showed me that they were enjoying their holiday as much as I was!
I had an incredible two weeks spent with my sister and her family. My niece Lily has grown so much and is crawling everywhere. She loved having rides on Auntie Mari’s lap. I was honoured to have been asked to be one of her godmothers and whilst we were out there we had Lily’s christening which was a wonderful day. Whilst we were in America we did lots of site seeing and eat lots of food. The salads there are amazing, there’s so much choice! Sadly the saying goodbye never gets any easier, but the next time I will see them is at Christmas so not too long thankfully.
It was great to be back and to see the horses and the cats. They were all delighted to see us and the horses were ready to start work again. Mum started riding Bear for me as I had decided to book a qualifier on the 1st September and so needed to concentrate on Sky as we didn’t have long to prepare! I will let you all know how we got on in next month’s blog.
Sky certainly enjoyed his holiday. Before we went we were working on some new things but just didn’t quite have it established. But wow it has all come together and is now fully established. Sky feels and looks amazing. Now we just need to do lots of test practice and iron out any small mistakes as the Nationals are fast approaching (21st September)!
Bear is really happy to be back in work after his holiday and is being a really good boy.
This month the following video came out https://vimeo.com/267603231. My story and the Mobiliser- which I use every day. It has massively helped with my pain management and improved my quality of life. Horses are my life and they mean everything to me; they are the reason I get out of bed every day and keep fighting. The bond I have with my horses is very special and one day I will achieve my dream and win a gold medal. We are getting closer and closer to that dream; winning a major International with Sky this year and as my partnership grows with Bear our scores will continue to rise. I wouldn’t be where I am without my support team, my sponsors and supporters and everyone else that has supported me. On my journey I hope to inspire others and get more individuals involved in Para Sport. My motto is ‘everything happens for a reason’.
